Customs inspection refers to the administrative enforcement action taken by customs authorities after accepting the declaration from the customs declaration entity, to lawfully determine whether the nature, origin, condition, quantity, and value of imported or exported goods match the detailed information provided on the goods declaration form, by physically examining the goods.

I. What Customs Inspection Involves
Common contents of customs inspection include: verifying product names, specifications, quantities, weights, numbers of packages, checking marks, verifying against infringements, confirming the source of goods, classifying items, examining conditions (new or used), checking prices, collecting samples for testing, inspecting vehicles, inspecting containers, and detecting any concealed items.
II. Obligations of Consignees and Consignors During Inspection
1. During customs inspection, the consignee or consignor of imported or exported goods, or their authorized representatives, should be present and responsible for moving the goods, opening and resealing the packaging as required by customs.

III. Customs Inspection Process
1. After customs confirm the need for inspection, the on-site receiving officer will print an "Inspection Notification" and hand it over to the customs declarant.
2. Customs will schedule the inspection time according to staff availability and positions, usually arranging it for the following day.
3. During the inspection, the foreign trade salesperson or authorized export customs declarant needs to be present and be responsible for moving, opening, and resealing the goods packaging as requested by customs. Under special circumstances, customs may immediately inspect, reinspect, or collect samples.
4. Upon completion of the customs inspection, the accompanying personnel will sign and confirm the details on the "Inspection Record." If the inspection causes damage to the goods, the foreign trade salesperson has the right to request compensation from the responsible customs officials, but appropriate procedures must be followed.
