The full name of DAP is Delivered At Place, which means delivery at the destination. It refers to the seller transporting the goods to the buyer's specified destination using a transportation method and only requiring readiness for unloading. The seller hands over the goods, still on the transportation vehicle (without unloading), to the buyer for disposal, completing the delivery. The seller is responsible for bearing all risks and costs (except import duties) of transporting the goods to the specified destination.
I. Differences between DAP and DDP
1. In DDP, the exporter must bear all risks during the transportation of goods to the specified destination and also handle destination port customs clearance procedures, paying taxes, fees, and other expenses.
2. If the seller cannot directly or indirectly obtain an import license, it is advisable to use this term cautiously. If the exporter has the capability to complete import customs clearance, then choosing DDP may be an option.
3. The terms of DAP are as follows: Delivery at Place applies to one or more modes of transport and signifies that at the designated destination, when the goods ready for unloading on the arriving transport vehicle are handed over to the buyer for disposal, it constitutes delivery by the seller, who bears all risks of transporting the goods to the specified place. It is advisable for the parties involved to clearly specify the location within the agreed destination because the risks until that point are borne by the seller.
