How does the reed diffuser stick work
To truly appreciate reed diffuser sticks' magic, we must explore the captivating science behind capillary action. This principle is the unsung hero, making reed diffusers a wonderful addition to your living space.
At its core, capillary action is a natural phenomenon where liquids move through small channels, such as the microscopic tubes within reed diffuser sticks. It's the same principle that allows water to travel up the roots of plants, defying gravity. In the world of reed diffusers, capillary action is the invisible hand that gently guides fragrant essential oils from the container to your room.
How does this work? Imagine a glass of water with a paper towel partially submerged. The paper towel's fibers draw the water upward, creating a gradual, controlled flow. Reed diffuser similarly sticks function. These sticks are carefully engineered to be porous, featuring countless tiny channels that wick up the liquid- in this case, the precious essential oils.
The essential oils are specially formulated to be volatile, meaning they readily evaporate at room temperature. As the oils travel through the reed sticks, they come into contact with the air. Once they meet the open air, they begin to evaporate. This evaporation process releases the oils' aromatic molecules into your living space, creating the lovely scents that fill the room.
Now, here's where it gets fascinating. The rate of fragrance release is not only natural but also automated. As more oil evaporates, the capillary action continues to draw liquid up the reed sticks to replace what has been diffused, ensuring a consistent and enduring release of scent. The speed at which this happens is influenced by factors like the type of essential oil used and the ambient temperature.
How to open a reed diffuser bottle?
Yes, we know..the plastic cap on the reed diffuser bottle can sometimes be screwed too tightly into the bottle. This is a necessary precaution so that the essential oils do not leak out inside its packaging. You might use your teeth, it works but is not the best idea - the essential and fragrance oils are not the most taste-friendly. Instead, use a small blade (be careful!) or spoon, slip it under a plastic cap, and slowly try to push the cap upward, slowly loosening the cap so you can easily pull it off.
How many reed sticks to use?
Each Pristine Aroma reed diffuser comes with 5 cream reed sticks. We recommend using 3-5 sticks depending on the intensity of the scent you want in your room. Using all 5 sticks will maximize the fragrance intensity but will also drain the essential oils the fastest. It is a give-and-take :) If the scent is too strong, simply reduce the number of reed sticks.
How to make the reed diffuser scent last longer?
Over time, your nose might get used to the scent of the reed diffuser which will make you think that the scent is disappearing. Don't worry as this is a common issue especially if you are staying in your room for long hours. Simply flip the reed sticks around to refresh the scent.
How long do reed diffusers last?
It depends on the size of the bottle that you get! Pristine Aroma reed diffusers come in 50ml and 180ml bottles. These will last for 4-6 weeks and 3-4 months respectively. To make your reed diffuser last longer, use less number of reed sticks.
