If you've just bought a facial roller, the tendency to over-roll is always there. Of course, we all want to see the best results, but unfortunately, sliding a facial roller across your skin for hours will only make your arms sore. Here's how to make the most of your facial roller in just 10 minutes.
Step 1: Cleanse
Be sure to cleanse your face before using the facial roller. "It's important to cleanse first because you don't want to push any bacteria into your skin," says Caroline.
Step 2: Moisturize
Apply a moisturizing facial serum, followed by a gentle facial oil. "You want to make sure this oil is designed for facial use," she says. "I like to use the serum to penetrate the product and use the oil to lubricate."
Step 3: Start with the inner cheeks
Starting with the inner cheeks, directly under the eyes, use the smaller end of a jade or quartz double-ended tool and gently roll outward to the temples. "Make sure you do this three times on each side," suggests Carolyn.
Step 4: Move to the lower part of the face
For the lower part of the face, use the larger stone on the other end of the roller, she explains. "Continue with three outward sweeping motions until you feel the tension in your face begin to release."
Step 5: Move to the neck
Move to your neck and gently move upward. "Start just below the jawbone and roll toward the inner ear," Caroline instructs.
Step 6: Move to the forehead
Finish by gently stroking upward from the brow bone to the hairline. "Pay special attention to the tension in the brow area and gently roll there for a few seconds," says Caroline.
Step 7: Cleanse
To prevent breakouts and transferring bacteria to your face, clean the roller before and after use. This can be done with a damp cloth or alcohol wipes.

What are the benefits of using a facial roller?
Although facial rolling may not show immediate results, the slight pressure applied helps stimulate blood circulation, which reduces the appearance of fine lines and tightens the skin.
Also, remember that facial rollers are most effective when used in conjunction with a serum or moisturizer, as they help the skin actively absorb key ingredients deep within the facial tissues, enhancing moisture and helping to make the skin look brighter. Other benefits include lymphatic drainage and reduced inflammation.
How to Make the Most of Facial Rollers
Add a facial mask
Apply a mask , and take your facial massage to the next level. Not only is this super relaxing, but the facial roller helps all of the essence in the mask penetrate deep into the skin.
Be gentle.
Don't push too hard. I know what you're thinking, "Maybe if I apply more pressure to the facial roller, I'll see better results." Unfortunately, the extra pressure has no effect. "The lymphatic system is very delicate, and you only need a light touch," Caroline says.
Create a ritual
The repetitive motion of rolling a facial roller may have a therapeutic effect. Take your time and don't rush. "Practice breathing deeply as you do it and create a beautiful ritual around it," advises Caroline.
Stay cool
Facial muscles tend to store a lot of tension, which can lead to wrinkles and fine lines. Keeping your facial roller in the refrigerator can help get maximum skin tightening while eliminating puffiness and soothing irritation.
Do facial rollers work?
Sure, face rolling looks great and sounds absolutely soothing, but do you see any results after standing in front of a mirror for 10 minutes with a roller? "Honestly, facial rolling feels great for your skin and is definitely recommended. However, keep in mind that this is not a life-changing treatment," says Carolyn. "I recommend being realistic about your expectations before starting a facial massage. Whenever my clients ask me this question, I always emphasize the benefits of any facial massage that can be turned into a ritual, and that's exactly how a facial massage should look. Facial rolling helps us pay attention to our skin and skin care products, so I love it."
