By now, you've undoubtedly heard of Jade Rollers. vogue dot com proclaims Jade Roller to be.
"A Chinese skincare tool that cools, firms and de-puffs the face in seconds." *
As you can imagine, Vogue's strong statement has virtually ensured that this simple but very beneficial beauty tool has become a must-have for women of all ages.
Today, you'll see facial rollers made of all kinds of crystals, not just jade. From rose quartz facial rollers to green tungsten (called jade in some places but actually a different but equally beautiful stone) and of course traditional jade, you can find a crystal that speaks to you spiritually (or looks best) sitting next to your bed or on your dresser!) . For the sake of simplicity, we will discuss why and how to use Jade Rollers, but the application is the same no matter which stone you choose.
So, how do Jade Rollers work?
If you've ever had a facial that includes a face and neck massage, you know how great it feels, and there's no doubt that it explains how massage helps detoxify the body.The Jade Roller is a mini facial that helps with lymphatic drainage by stimulating the fluid that flows through the lymph nodes in the chin and neck.
Using a Jade Roller also helps to increase circulation, and if done consistently, both this and lymphatic drainage should help to improve elasticity and minimize the signs of aging.
Jade rollers date back to ancient China. It was a skin care essential for the Empress and the upper echelons of Chinese society. In fact, when I lived in Macau (an autonomous region of China), my monthly facials always ended with a jade roller. The estheticians there told me that they used it to get a massaging sensation and also to help my skin absorb more of the serum they applied. Funny thing is, this was a few years ago, long before Jade Rollers were all over Instagram!
How do I use Jade Roller?
Jade Rolling is so easy to master and they are a very affordable addition to your skincare routine (at Indagare Natural Beauty, we offer a range of crystal rollers - rose quartz, aventurine and jade!)
1) After cleansing, apply your favorite facial oil as a first step, as the jade roller will help your skin absorb the product better.
2) Starting from the chin, gently roll horizontally to the hairline. You only need gentle pressure.
3) Move up to your nose, then continue outward to your ears.
4) If you have the smaller end of the jade roller, roll it along your cheekbones below your eye sockets. If you have a jade roller with a grooved end and a smooth end, use only the smooth end around the eyes (the grooved end of the jade roller feels great around the hairline and temples and provides a deeper massage ritual for the eyes).
5) Place your roller along your eyebrows and roll it towards your hairline, making sure that your forehead also benefits from your facial massage. Finish by rolling along your forehead in a different way, horizontally towards your temples.
