What Does Jade Face Roller Do

The use of jade as a healing stone for the skin has been around for thousands of years. From ancient traditions, the stone was known to have special healing properties that could bring harmony and balance to life. You may see jade stones used in gua sha, which practitioners consider a body technique for moving stagnant and unhealthy energy through the blood, where jade tools are used as a scraping mechanism; skin care practitioners (and similar home DIY hobbyists) use a gentler scraping technique on the face.

Then there's the jade roller - a popular skin care method that has probably appeared on your Instagram feed once or twice by now. There's a good reason it's so popular: studies have shown that facial rolling and massage can improve blood circulation to the face. Doing this regularly has several key benefits: it can help sculpt the face, enhance skin tone and smooth out fine lines.

How to jade roll your face.

The order in which you roll your face is important - you want to work your muscles as well as promote circulation and lymphatic drainage. Here's a simple step-by-step guide to rolling.

Apply a serum, oil or moisturizer. You should never use jade rollers on a dry face. any serum or oil you like can be used.

Choose one side of your face to start on - you will do all of these moves on that side first, then repeat on the other side. Start at the top center of your forehead (hairline) and move outward and downward toward your temples. Repeat this movement several times, moving your starting position southward with each pass. Eventually, your starting point will be just above your brow bone.

Move below your eyes, starting at the inner corner next to the bridge of your nose. Sweep the roller over the shape of your eyes and finally move upward to your temples. This will provide a lifting effect. Repeat this motion, moving down until you hit the end of your cheekbones.

Pull the roller straight across the ear just below the cheekbone. Do some passes that focus on this area.

Moving downward, you will need to follow the jaw line from the chin to the ear. However, at the end of this movement, you want to pull slightly upward, then rotate again toward the neck and rotate downward. (It almost has the nature of a U-turn.) Focus on this part several times through.

Repeat steps 2-5 on the other side of the face.
