Throughout 2021, social networks are invaded by new beauty practices dedicated to skincare. It seems anything goes to get healthy, naturally glowing skin without the need for multiple layers of makeup. TikTokers are champions of the topic all year long, doubling down on innovation to offer new solutions - often reinventing age-old practices - to - to address redness, dullness and other imperfections.

The benefits of ice globes
If anything in particular stands out, it's ice and harnessing the power of cold to garner millions of views on social media. Skin icing, frozen cucumbers, rice water and frozen beauty blenders are among the hottest beauty hacks of 2021, while cryolipolysis (fat freezing) has become one of the most popular beauty procedures. This icy wave has certainly inspired some, opening the door to new beauty tools and strategies that may soon become must-haves. This is certainly the case with hockey, a new skincare trend to try in early 2022.
What ice globes really are
An ice ball is a fairly basic tool that, as the name implies, consists of two spheres filled with water that are placed in a refrigerator or freezer and then used on the face to massage dry skin or after applying a cream or serum. They are said to soothe skin irritation, reduce inflammation and blemishes, and even reduce dark circles and bags under the eyes. As such, their benefits are similar to skin icing, with just an ice cube, but without the discomfort of putting ice directly on the skin.
On TikTok, the trend has been growing for weeks, with over a million views on the #iceglobe hashtag and over nine million views on #iceglobes. And that's just the beginning. Overall, hockey is part of a larger phenomenon that requires the use of natural resources - often the most basic - to get healthy, perfect skin. And what better way to do that than with water? Water is an (almost) free ancient beauty tonic?
