Amazon Faced Worker Strikes During 'Black Friday

On November 25th, according to a report from the Chinese website of The Wall Street Journal, Amazon faced worker strikes in the United States and Europe. Amid escalating labor unrest, this e-commerce giant encountered disruptions as "Black Friday" commenced.

The report stated that the UNI Global Union indicated warehouse workers and drivers planned strikes in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Spain, and other places on "Black Friday," demanding wage increases and improved working conditions. The planned demonstrations might disrupt the supply chain, potentially causing Amazon's consumers to be unable to receive their goods on the day of "Black Friday."

"Black Friday," originally known for crowds queuing at large stores in the United States, is increasingly shifting to online platforms and going global.

According to Reuters, Germany represents Amazon's second-largest market in terms of sales last year. The union estimated that around 2,000 workers at Amazon's six logistics centers in Germany participated in the strike.

A spokesperson for Amazon in Germany stated that only a small number of workers participated in the strike and that workers' wages were fair, with a starting wage exceeding €14 per hour. The spokesperson mentioned that deliveries for "Black Friday" orders would be "reliable and timely."
